Jesse Marshall Carter  was born November 17, 1863 in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY, and died November 02, 1939.  He married Effie Derinda Rippetoe November 30, 1885 in St. Clair Co., MO, daughter of James Rippetoe and Lucinda Johnson.  She was born October 27, 1870 in MO, and died September 25, 1954 in Garnett, Anderson Co.,  KS.

By 1910, Jesse and Effie Carter had moved to a farm 3 and 1/2 miles West of Osceola... they moved to Welda, Kansas by 1914 and opened a general store there. They were successful in the store business, moving evenutally to Kansas City where he and his son, Bill, owned a store together. Somewhere about 1936 they moved to Lowry City, MO. to retire and take care of her mother, Lucinda Rippetoe.

Born August 20, 1892 in Missouri; died September 10, 1968.  She married John R. Spriggs.

Della May Carter
 
Born November 26, 1894 in Missouri; died January 14, 1979.  She married Rex Spriggs

Flora Maggie Carter
 

Born January 07, 1897 in Missouri; died May 20, 1920 in KS.  She married Otto Nichols.

Jessie Lucinda Carter
 
Born June 12, 1899 in Missouri; died April 11, 1955.  She married Ernest Lewellen.

Claude Everett Carter
 
Born October 24, 1901 in Missouri; died March 17, 1943.
